Litany to the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, also called the Paraclete, is in the Christian faith the third Person of the Most Holy Trinity. In the Acts of the Apostles many outpourings of the Holy Spirit are mentioned, in which, together with the action of the Spirit, healings, prophecies, the casting out of demons (exorcism), and speaking in tongues (glossolalia) are associated. In art, the Holy Spirit is commonly depicted as a dove.

The promise of God the Father to those who will devoutly pray these litanies at least 3 times a week:

  1. I will snatch you from the hands of the enemy in a visible way.

  2. I will remove the obstacles that hinder you on the way to perfection.

  3. I will add to you an angel, so that by inspiration he may protect you from the snares of sin.

  4. You will persevere on the path of virtue.

  5. You will come to know your shortcomings well.

  6. You will receive the strength to free yourself from sinful habits.

  7. I will strengthen in you faith, hope, and charity.

  8. I will deliver you from material poverty.

  9. Your family will live in harmony, in mutual love.

  10. Whoever wishes to help his loved ones must pray these litanies daily for at least half a year.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit...

Holy Spirit, descend from the throne of Your majesty and build Yourself a dwelling in the heart of Your servant! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who are adored by the Father and the Son, teach me to live in the constant presence of God! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who are adored by the Father and the Son, teach me to live according to the will of the Most High! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who dwell in the heart of the Son of God, teach me to know You and to love You sincerely! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who care for the glory of God the Father, teach me to live in surrender and in complete trust in God! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, sign of tongues of fire, kindle in my heart the fire of Your love! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, mysterious dove, teach me to understand Holy Scripture! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who have neither face nor name, teach me to pray rightly! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who speak through the mouths of the prophets, teach me to live in peace and in serenity of spirit – soul! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, burning hearth of love, teach me to live wisely and patiently! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, giver of all gifts, teach me to live in humility and modesty! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, overflowing treasury of grace, teach me to understand the value of suffering! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, bottomless treasury of grace, teach me to make proper use of precious time! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, from whose treasury nothing is diminished, protect me from every lack of love and pride! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, whose riches no one can count, teach me to face useless imaginings and thoughts! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, of exceedingly many gifts, teach me to avoid unprofitable activity and idle talk! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, from whose fullness we have all received, teach me to be silent and to speak at the right time! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, eternal love, teach me to give good example to others! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, infinite goodness, grant me perseverance in good! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, gentle teacher, teach me to deal rightly with people! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, dear friend of souls, teach me to judge no one and never to remember wrongs! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, bliss-giving Light of the soul, teach me to see the needs of others and not to neglect good works! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, Father of the poor, let me know my faults! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who work miracles in souls, lead me by watchfulness to perfection! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, before whom nothing is hidden, teach me to escape the snares of the devil! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who know the future of the universe, help me to free myself from the dominion of the flesh and the devil! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, who know also my future, I entrust to Your protection also my family, friends, benefactors, and all people! Be praised.

Holy Spirit, with Your Divine help teach me to live for the honor and glory of God, for the salvation of souls, and for the joy of the Mother of God, that I may die as a useful servant. Amen.
