Novena to Saint Charbel

St. Charbel is currently among the most beloved saints. And there is nothing surprising about that. Through him God has performed and continues to perform astounding wonders and miracles, at which leading scientists and professors can only helplessly shake their heads…

Yussef Antoun Makhlouf was born in 1828 as the fifth and youngest child of his parents, Anton and Brigita. From early childhood he was drawn to fervent prayer and solitude. While his uncle Tanious wanted him to work with him and his mother wanted to marry him to a young woman, Yussef, at the age of 23, despite his family’s disapproval, quietly “disappeared” and left his home. He went to the monastery of St. Maron, took the name Charbel, and two years later made his solemn vows. He completely withdrew from the public and from his family and studied for the priesthood, becoming a priest in 1859. He found himself in monastic life. He was extraordinarily devoted to prayer, hard work, and contemplative silence.

Through his intercession many miracles take place.

Day 1

First Day of the Novena

O wondrous Charbel, whose incorrupt body, untouched by decay, gives forth the fragrance of heaven, hasten to help me and obtain for me from God the grace for which I ask (here say what grace you are asking for).
Saint Charbel, pray for me.
O Lord, who granted Saint Charbel the grace of faith, I earnestly beseech You, through his intercession, to grant me the grace to live according to Your commandments and according to Your Gospel. To You be glory forever. Amen.

1x Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. The Ten Commandments.
